Questions
The things people actually ask, answered properly. If yours is not here, message me and I will answer it within 24 hours.
Buying
Can I test drive before I decide?
Yes. Bring your driving licence and that is all you need. Message ahead so the car is on site and ready, because units get moved for preparation or taken out on other viewings.
Can I bring my own mechanic or send the car for inspection?
Yes. If you want an independent opinion before you commit, arrange it and I will make the car available. Anyone confident in what they are selling should have no problem with this.
How current is the stock on this site?
Cars are listed here as they arrive, usually before they appear on the listing portals. If a car is showing as available, it is available.
How does a trade-in work?
Send me three things on WhatsApp and you get a quote within 24 hours. Your car plate, the current mileage, and an access code, which you generate yourself on the OneMotoring website. The quote is an indication, not a final offer. The figure is only confirmed once the car has been physically checked when you come down.
Warranty and servicing
What warranty comes with the car?
Engine and gearbox cover is available on every car, and the length depends on the car and how much COE it has left. Japanese and Korean cars can run up to ten years with unlimited mileage. Continental cars work on shorter tiers. Whatever applies to a specific car is confirmed in writing before you commit.
What about hybrid batteries?
Hybrid battery cover is arranged separately from engine and gearbox, and on a hybrid it can run to the end of the COE. Ask about it specifically, because it is the single most expensive component on a hybrid and it is not automatically included in a standard warranty anywhere.
Why do most dealers only offer six months?
Because six months is cheap to underwrite and long enough to get past the point where a buyer would blame the seller. It is not a meaningful test of an engine or a gearbox. A transmission fault that appears in month nine costs the owner, not the dealer.
Where does warranty work get done?
In house at CarTimes Autolution, which is also where cars are serviced and inspected before listing. Servicing elsewhere during the warranty period can void it, so check before booking anything outside.
Financing
How much downpayment do I need?
It depends on the car. If the prorated OMV is $20,000 or below you can borrow up to 70 percent, so 30 percent down. Above that the cap drops to 60 percent, so 40 percent down. The calculator on each listing already applies the right one for that car.
Can I borrow more than the bank limit?
Yes, through in-house financing, at a higher interest rate. It lowers what you need upfront and raises what you pay overall. The calculator shows total interest next to the monthly so you can see the trade rather than guess at it.
What is the longest loan I can take?
Seven years on a bank loan, and never longer than the COE remaining on the car. In-house financing can run longer, but the same COE limit applies.
What fees should I expect?
Ask for every fee itemised on paper before you sign anything, here or anywhere else. Insurance and transfer costs sit outside the car price. If a figure cannot be explained, that is worth knowing before you commit rather than after.
Deposits
What does a deposit do?
It takes the car off the market for three working days while you sort out financing or arrange an inspection. It counts toward the purchase price and is not a fee.
Do I get it back if I change my mind?
Yes, in full, if you cancel within the hold period. Also in full at any time if your loan application is rejected, or if an inspection finds something material that was not disclosed.
Can I extend the hold?
Message before it expires and say what you are waiting on. Loan approval, a family decision, a workshop slot, all reasonable. Extensions are normally fine and get confirmed in writing.
