Electric vans

Two Linxys commercial EVs, sold through CarTimes as the sole authorised dealer here. Both cost the same, so the choice comes down to what you carry.

2 models Both $26,800 before COE $126,800 with an immediate COE Price list dated 13 Jul 2026 New cars →

An electric van costs more to put on the road and less to keep on it. Whether that trade works for you depends entirely on how far you drive, so run your own mileage through the calculator below before you take anyone's word for it.

Two prices, and why they differ

$26,800 is the van itself, after the $15,000 CVES Band A rebate comes off the $41,800 body price. The COE is not in that figure. You will see it advertised as a from price and it is a real number, but nobody drives away for it.

$126,800 is what you actually pay to be on the road, with a Category C COE already secured and registration, six months road tax, OBU and GST inside it. Budget against this one.

What it costs you to run

The Linxys brochures assume 212 km a day for the Piccolo and 252 km for the G100R. That is heavy delivery mileage. Most operators drive well under it.
Electricity defaults to the midpoint of home AC charging at $0.55 and public DC at $0.60. Charge overnight on AC only and your real rate is lower.
Fuel cost a year, 365 days
Linxys Piccolo$0
Equivalent diesel van$0
Equivalent petrol van$0

Against diesel you keep $0 a year. Against petrol, $0.

Consumption is taken from the Linxys brochures: 141 Wh per km for the Piccolo against 16.5 and 21.4 litres per 212 km for the diesel and petrol comparators, and 166 Wh per km for the G100R against 20.79 and 27 litres per 252 km. Fuel only. It does not include servicing, tyres, insurance or road tax, so treat it as one line of the running cost rather than the whole picture. The Piccolo brochure prints a diesel figure that does not match its own litres and price per litre, so the diesel number here is the corrected arithmetic rather than the printed one.

Linxys Piccolo

CVES Band A · 2 seats · $26,800 before COE, $126,800 with an immediate one

A 3.4 metre body with a 4.4 metre turning radius, which is tighter than most passenger cars. It goes down service lanes and into bays a full size van cannot. Take it if your loads are bulky rather than heavy and your day is spent in town.

The limit to watch is the 350 kg payload, and that figure includes everything in the cabin. If you regularly load pallets or heavy stock, the G100R is the right van and I will tell you so rather than sell you this one.

Linxys G100R

CVES Band A · 2 seats · $26,800 before COE, $126,800 with an immediate one

Twice the cargo volume of the Piccolo, more than three times the payload, and enough combined range to cover a full delivery day without a top up. At 1,120 kg against a 2,510 kg gross rating, this is genuine one tonne van territory rather than a light duty compromise.

The detail that matters most on a delivery round is the tailgate, which sits 530 mm off the ground. Over fifty stops a day that difference is the whole job.

Both stand under two metres, so height restricted carparks are usually not a problem. If you park daily somewhere with a low clearance bar, check the posted height before you commit. If that is the deciding factor, drive one there.

Warranty runs to whichever limit comes first and excludes wear and tear. Specification can change without notice. Prices are from the CarTimes Linxys list dated 13 Jul 2026 and may be revised, so ask me to confirm the current figure before you budget against it.

On the COE. These register under Category C. A limited number of units are available with an immediate COE on a first come basis. If none are left when you order, registration goes through normal bidding, which is three months across six exercises with no guarantee of securing one. That is a real timing risk on a fleet plan, so raise it early and I will tell you what is actually on the ground.

Financing a commercial vehicle

Commercial loans do not work like the passenger car loans most people have dealt with. The 30 and 40 per cent downpayment rules that apply to private cars do not apply here, so the loan to value can run considerably higher, and tenure sits at up to seven years on most packages.

Rates move, they differ by financier, and they depend on the entity you register under. I do not print a rate on a web page because by the time you read it the number may be wrong. Tell me how you want the cash flow to look and I will lay the actual packages out side by side, fees included.

Questions I get asked

Do I need a company to buy one of these?

These are commercial vehicles on a goods vehicle plate, so they are bought for business use and normally registered under a company. The exact requirements depend on the financier and on the LTA registration rules in force at the time. Tell me your setup and I will confirm it before you put any money down.

Why is the price quoted two different ways?

The lower figure is the van after the CVES rebate, with no COE in it. The higher one is what you actually pay to be on the road, with a Category C COE secured plus registration, six months road tax, OBU and GST. Budget against the higher one.

What happens to the battery after the warranty ends?

The battery is covered for 8 years or 500,000 km, whichever comes first. The cells are lithium iron phosphate from CATL, which is the more durable of the two common EV chemistries and handles daily fast charging better than the alternative. Past the warranty period, replacement cost depends on where prices sit at that point and nobody can honestly quote you that today. There is an EV Battery Assurance Package available through CarTimes and I can walk you through what it actually covers.

Is the range figure realistic?

The figures here are WLTP, which is the stricter of the two common test cycles but is still a test cycle. Real range drops with a full load, with the air conditioning running all day, and on expressway runs at higher speed. Plan against the combined figure, not the city one. That is 166 km for the Piccolo and 252 km for the G100R.

Where do I charge it?

Both vans use CCS2 on AC and DC, which is the standard across the public charging network here, so any public charger will work. The G100R fills in six to seven hours on a 6.6 kW AC charger, which suits an overnight park at your own premises. If you are running a depot and thinking about installing your own charger, plan that before you order rather than after.

Can I see one before I commit?

Yes. Both can be viewed and test driven. If the deciding factor is whether it fits your loading bay or your regular carpark, drive it there and find out. That is what a test drive is for.

Where do I service it?

At the authorised Linxys workshops, of which there are two. Eight services up to 80,000 km are included in the price. An EV service is a shorter list than a diesel one because there is no engine oil, no filters and no exhaust, though tyres, brakes, suspension and coolant still need attention on the normal schedule.

Tell me the job and I will tell you the van

Send me what you carry, how far you drive in a day, and where the van parks overnight. I will come back with the one that fits, the honest running cost against whatever you drive now, and the financing in writing. If neither van suits your operation, I will say that instead of selling you one.
