About this car
The warranty on this one is the story. BYD covers the battery for ten years and includes ten years of free servicing, both running to July 2035, which is the month the COE expires. In other words the two most expensive things about running an electric car are covered for as long as the car is legally allowed on the road. The vehicle warranty itself runs to July 2031.
Eight years ten months of COE remaining, the longest certificate of anything we list. Seven seats, a single speed drivetrain with no gearbox to wear, and no oil, filters or spark plugs to service.
One thing to understand before you buy any electric car of this age. Electric vehicles registered under the early adoption incentives had their registration fee reduced to nothing, which means there is no PARF rebate at the end. The saving was taken upfront by the first owner rather than returned at deregistration, and the depreciation figure above already accounts for it.
